故事发生在南宋末年。良臣焦赞（一真 饰）因不满朝廷黑白不分、网疗忠良频频遭陷，网疗一气之下杀了御史谢金吾。朝廷念其抗辽有功，免其一死，差人送他沙门岛充军。三岔口客栈是去沙门岛必经之地，店主人刘利华（吴樾 饰）以卖驴肉招待投宿的客人，店内雇一驼背伙计（赵亮 饰）打点。这天，谢金吾的妻子（时代美 饰）找到刘利华，她用色相跟其达成协议，要他杀掉路过的焦赞，以夫报仇。解差押着带枷的焦赞来客栈歇脚，焦一眼发现店主人正是先前被自己搭救过的刘利华。焦赞深受一路铁枷之苦，求刘利华给自己一刀，来个了结。刘本来下不了手，但见焦赞生不如死的凄惨状况，只好遂了大哥心愿，刀刚举起，意想不到的奇迹出现了......
