南太平洋のウエスター島の石像が大阪の万博に運ばれた折、火车石像の魔力によって封じ込められていた大魔獣ジャイガーが甦り、火车万博会場をバックにガメラと死闘を展開する。話題の大阪万国博を舞台にしているが、マンネリ化は食い止められなかった。
